Hi Paul,
I, too, agree with both Chris & Bob's comments! I enjoy reading your blog & appreciate your 'words of wisdom' as I am fairly 'new' to the sales industry. I recently introduced myself at a sales presentation to a table of 8 company leaders, including the CEO, as someone who will listen to your needs & hope to deliver solutions to fit those needs. This approach has proven successful for me as it encourages the potential client to be participatory in a meeting rather than sit back & watch me present or talk the entire time. My hesitancies in exploring a sales career have stemmed from my interpretations of 'cheesy-car-salespeople-approach'. Best advice I received from my sister (a more seasoned sales exec) was "then don't be one-just be yourself!" This advice has successfully opened so many more doors for me than I can count!

Thanks for your blogs-I really appreciate them & the time you take to share your many years of gathered wisdom. I also share your info with colleagues. I have also put into practice much of what I read-both from your blog & what others post-love finding best practices to 'steal'.
Thanks again,
Adriane

Thanks for explaining the "multi-hundred dollar" bit, Paul. You neglected to mention that I'm also an alchemist who can turn gold into base metals through an arcane process.

@ Chris Jordan: Great point. The key, in my opinion is always in the execution.

@ Bob: Thanks. I do this stuff after hours and have learned that I can in fact survive on 2 hours of sleep. I can always catch up on it when I'm dead I guess :)

To answer your question, that's Hank's sense of humor in action. Instead of saying he runs a multi - million dollar business he replaced it with "multi hundred dollar business"

BTW: I've learned not to screw with Hank . . . his title is Supreme Commander. I'm really pissed I didn't think up that one!

Thank you Chris and Bob!

Respectfully,
Paul Castain

Paul:

I follow your posts "fanatically", love your sense of humor and always take away something I can use immediately. This is another fantastic one. How do you find the time to do this and maintain the balance of work and family?

Thanks for doing what you do...

I thought the line in the description of Hank's company unusual. Can you explain the use of "multi-hundred" ?

I think a canned "introduction" is okay - if delivered properly. And the right delivery method should be easy to attain if you know your product and the right way to catch a prospect's attention. But yes, questions and listening will ALWAYS win.
