I Hope This Saves Someone’s Life!

by Paul Castain on December 29, 2010

I’ve been struggling with something rather difficult lately.

Although, I am a bit of an open book on my blog, there are still areas of my life that I wish to keep guarded.

After some serious soul searching, I decided that you need to know something that I hope wakes you up and drives you to action.

Earlier this month, after a series of tests, someone very close to me was diagnosed with breast cancer.
For those of you who have been through things like this, you understand when I tell you that things become surreal and you experience quite the roller coaster of emotions.

But the news isn’t all bad, it seems that because this person went for regular mammograms, she caught a break and caught it early.

We have options and were told there is a 99% survival rate.

This brings me to a critical message and a favor.

My message is simple . . .

Slow the hell down and make sure you are getting to the Doctor, getting your checkups and taking care of things when you are supposed to.

Not just the ladies . . . all of us!

And now for the favor . . .

I truly believe that when you go into battle, you bring it all, you bring it fast and you never show up expecting a skirmish.

On Thursday, we meet with a surgeon at Sloan Kettering and could sure use a few prayers and positive thoughts.
And please forgive me if I have crossed a line in asking you for that but . . .

If I can cold call a business

Get up and speak in front of 1,000 sales jedis

And ask prospects for their business . . .

Perhaps I can lose my ego long enough to admit to you that I can use all the help I can get for this one!

I expect positive things to happen on Thursday and even more to come from raising your awareness today.

Take care of yourself . . . its the only “You” you’ll get.

  • Ah, Paul, I am deeply sorry to hear that you and she have to face this trial. I share your encouragement by the early catch and wish you and she the strength and faith to tackle it all head on and come out the clear winners.

On a personal note, I just had my physical the other day and have other follow-up wellness tests to schedule and complete in Jan and Feb. A wonderful reminder to us all – thanks.

There is no line here to cross, my friend. Real life is messy and I applaud your openness and request for support. Please trust that positive thoughts and prayers come your way and especially hers. And thanks for sharing this personal trial to possibly help others.

Blessings for 2011 in every way,

  • Very nice of you to say that Mike and I’m happy to hear that you are on top of your check ups etc.

I’ll be starting my annual routine shortly as well!

  • So glad to hear this person was so pro-active with their health and managed to find out there was something amiss in the early stages. It really does make all the difference in the world.

I just had a very close friend go through the same thing. She also detected the cancer early and after prompt treatment has come through the other side with a bright future ahead. Sadly not every one is so lucky and these are the reminders we all need from time to time.

I hope this person has the same positive outcome as my friend, and I’m sure you’ll be there for her all the way.

Sending good thoughts to you both.

Paul — I am so deeply sorry to hear this and want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I know from experience, that early detection is key, and it is my hope that this works in your favor as well. And in my opinion, there should be no ego to consider when depending on the love and support of friends. Why else are we all here?

    God bless-

Truer words were never spoken. First I sincerely hope all goes well with the loved one you spoke of. I have been on that roller coaster you mentioned, not a lot of fun.
When you figure that your health is really all you truly own, taking care of it is precious.

    Happy New Year Dude!

Sending prayers to you and your loved one. Everyday you encourage us and spread your wisdom to the sales community, I believe the least we can do is pray for your loved one to heal fully and quickly and for you to have the strength to help her through it. It is time for us to support you as much as you support us.

    God Bless!

I went through this with my grandmother for 5 years. It runs in the family. She unfortunately lost her battle 2 years ago this January. She had mammograms every year, but when they found the lump, they assumed it was another calcium deposit and didn’t tell her until a year later when it was already in her lymph nodes.

I’m glad you have a doctor who pays attention and are lucky to be able to take action early.

  • Tim

    Uncle Paul,

    Hi Paul,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time – may the Lord give you strength and provide healing for your loved one.

  • Hi Paul – first – you are in NO WAY over the line in asking people to keep you and yours in our hearts and prayers! It’s documented many times over that the power of prayers and positive thoughts truly does heal!

So I am happy to keep you both in my heart and prayers and send (((positive energy))) along the way as well! Someone gave me this mantra when my daughter was facing a very scary health issue and I found it helped – I hope it will be of use to you now: ((((FAITH NOT FEAR))))…

    Take care and good luck!!

  • Hi Paul,
I am very sorry to read about it, but glad to know it was detected on time to state there is such a percentage of success (and doctors normally do not tend to be highly positive, so this means she is really safe).
    You’re both in our thoughts.
    Best wishes!

  • Roxana Codruta

all the best and may our prayers be heard

  • positive frequencies being created and sent your way….
