Another Bell Ringer, Paul. I particularly resonated with "Connecting the dots." Good stuff, Yoda.

@ Bob: Thanks for the kind words!

@ LA Too funny. I think you're on to something there LA! :)

@ Nikki: We've all been there. As the recipient, the consumer, the server. This post was autobiographical for me in many ways but I'm proud to say I'm a recovering Koolaidaholic. Rock on Nikki . . . the force is always strong in you my friend!

@ Annabella: You are too kind. Rock horns to you girlfriend!

@ Darren: I love that line "the art of muppetry" Well stated. Keep up the awesome work with your sales team. Focusing on such easy to neglect stuff like this makes for an unstoppable sales team in my book. Outstanding to say the least!

@ Erik: That's an awesome topic for both places if you ask me.
If you would like to start that discussion tomorrow, I will feature it. We will then circle back here and offer some additional ideas, thoughts etc.

Thank you all for taking time to contribute as well as your kind words of support.

Respectfully,
Paul Castain

Another solid post, Paul!

I have a sales meeting this afternoon and I will certainly challenge "unconnected" statements with "so what?"

Also, if you're taking requests for future blog posts, how about unveiling a process for breaking down tangible product features into intangible benefits? Our team acknowledges the importance of differentiating in this way, however, the Koolaid usually pulls us back to unfulfilling terms like "turn-key", "sophisticated", "optimization", and many more. Perhaps it's better suited as a discussion in Sales Playbook... I'll look into this in a bit.

Rock on! Erik

Thanks Paul. Enjoyed the De Koolaidization argument. My sales team have been requested to remove all of this gibberish from their vocabulary. Words such as holistic, systemic, peripatetic, cartharsis etc etc have no place in a sensible discussion. We refer to those unenlightened souls, as those who practice the art of muppetry.
Cheers, Darren

Awesome post, Uncle Paul! It's really often that the Kool Aid is served, but less often that it's rejected! Great way to analyze what you are presenting to customers/prospects. It sucks to hear either one say "Soooo, how does that help me?" I think I'll go call some prospects and offer them some Kool Aid with explanation now!

Super post - I learn a little everytime I drink your jedi-aid. Perhaps that guy who used to do sneak farting in your office and then flee the scene of the crime...was on that Houston flight!
