This Costs You Nothing To Do!

by Paul Castain on September 7, 2010

C. S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien would often give each other pep talks during their biggest writing challenges. There are many who believe that if it wasn’t for that encouragement the world might not have The Chronicles Of Narnia or The Lord Of The Rings.

So apparently, world class authors need encouragement?

Amongst the personal belongs that Abraham Lincoln had with him at the time of his death was an old, weathered newspaper article. The article talked about how Lincoln was an awesome President and what a great job he did.

The President of The United States digging a little encouragement? Say it isn’t so!

How about a shy kid who didn’t know what he wanted to be when he grew up. He would argue with his Dad about college and direction . . . his Dad kept serving the encouragement and Paul Castain found his voice.

Somebody, somewhere in your world, needs your encouragement.

The cost to you is a moment of your time and a kind word.

So come on now, run along and encourage someone before this awesome day ends!

You’ll both be better for it!

This is sooo true, I could have been a stinking nothing that would not have accomplished anything had not for a Dad that didn’t get past the ninth grade in school because he needed to help support his family. He said that you are someone special only you can change that for the better or worse by the way you make your way through life and how you treat the people you meet. Always be positive,Always be a giver and not a taker, this separates you from the majority of the other people for the right reasons. There is nothing you can’t do if you make up your mind to succeed.

Everyone needs encouragement and support. Sadly, these days that is plenty lacking for many people both personally and professionally. I wonder, if every single person on this planet would commit themselves to encouraging one person every single day of their lives…can you imagine what a world we’d be living in? Paul, you may have just found the answer to world peace:)

    Paul-

It is the little things that make the biggest impact. I make it a goal every day to give either my spouse, my kids, friends, colleagues or customers some note of encouragement that makes them feel better and creates a positive outlook for the day. By accomplishing this, I keep my attitude going in the right direction.

    Hey Paul,

As usual, you are on the money. I try to keep that optimistic point in all my conversations with friends and family, but a lot of the time it slips away so thanks for the reminder my friend.

You are one hell of a salesman, manager, trainer and a man. I’m proud to know you.

*nods* uh-huh much of the “good” I do on Twitter is done in DM’s when I see a friend is down. I’ll fire off a few DM’s to tell them how awesome they are. Oh, and they do the same for me. :)

    Awesome reminder Paul!

@ Len: Agreed! Everyone needs that encouragement sooner or later my friend!

@ Barb: Could you imagine a world like that? Holy smokes :)

@ Marilyn: Proof positive that we never leave a situation where we encouraged someone else empty handed!

@ Peter. Now you’re encouraging me! Very cool!

@ Hank: Likewise amigo. I knew you were cool the moment you shared my passion to bring the word “dillweed” back to life!

@ Mr Raffel: I can’t tell you how many times that encouragement has come back at me as well.

Thank you all for taking the time to contribute to our discussion!

    Respectfully,
    Paul Castain

    Paul,

If it wasn’t for my aunt, I would have never gotten my degree. I was trying to go to school, work, and raise a family. I thought about temporarily dropping out and she wouldn’t let me. She always believed in me and she made me believe in myself. On another note, the first year in business is usually the worst and it seems that when you are about to give up, someone always seems to show up to tell you what a great idea you have or great you are at what you do.
