There’s a quote that I keep by my phone that kicks me in the ass EVERY time I want to blow off prospecting.
IF YOU REALLY WANT TO DO SOMETHING YOU’LL FIND A WAY. IF YOU DON’T, YOU’LL FIND AN EXCUSE!
I also use a little trick called “Calendar Kicks” which are calendar alerts that are designed to give me a kick in the ass if needed.
Let’s say I’ve blocked out from 1:00-3:00 for prospecting.
Knowing that I’m human and might avoid that activity;
I have 2 alerts set.
One for 1:00 and;
The other for 1:15 that says;
Are you on the phone yet or is your competitor taking your money?
Both of these techniques are known as “Pattern Interrupts” and the beauty of a pattern interrupt is that;
They have this habit of kicking you in the ass and;
Interrupting a behavior (or pattern) that isn’t serving you!
I have several more of these friendly “kicks in the ass” that I use to keep me on point.
