THE Perfect Activity For A Sunday Morning!

Actually I lied . . .

What I’m about to share ISN’T perfect for a Sunday morning . . .

It’s the perfect activity EVERYDAY!

So here it is . . .

Make sure, that aside from taking the time to plan;

You also carve aside “Thinking Time”.

The average person has between 60,000 and 90,000 thoughts each day.

Many of those thoughts contain subconscious answers to challenges and opportunities in your business.

But its hard to snag those ideas when;

They resemble that scene from “I Love Lucy” when she’s in the chocolate factory (Google it if you’ve never heard of that scene)

So each day, carve out some time (preferably NOT in the car) to

Ponder the things on your plate.

Here’s a simple formula that I teach my coaching clients.

  1. Ask yourself the following (fill in the blank) problem solving question “In what ways can I ______?” Examples of how you might use it “In what ways can I get in the door at the ABC Co” “In what ways can I get into the Polymer Division at the XYZ account?” “In what ways can I hunt for new business, aside from utilizing phone and email?”
  2. Have your journal handy so you crystalize your thoughts and mark your path.
  3. Approach your thought process suspiciously as in “I’m missing something here, what is it?”
  4. Put some cool music into your earbuds. I prefer relaxing instrumental music because I think better when I’m relaxed.
  5. If you can, pick a setting that helps you relax. For me, its outside on the patio or by my firepit.
  6. When you have a huge challenge you’re working through, attack it in multiple thinking time sessions. There’s an old saying “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time?”
  7. Don’t judge your answers right away. That’s the equivalent of your boss asking for ideas and then immediately gunning down everyone’s thoughts. Next thing you know, there’s the sound of crickets chirping. Your brain is the same way.
  8. This has to be like going to the gym in that you need to do it regularly in order to build muscle. The more you do this, the easier it becomes to generate ideas to grow your business.
  9. Don’t ever leave a “Thinking Time” session without scheduling the action you need to take to bring your ideas to fruition!

I used this process when I felt I wanted to do something more with my life (back in early 2011). My answer was to start Castain Training Systems but I was scared. So I used the “Thinking Time” process to think through why I was scared.

I used this process when I fell on my face with a product launch in October 2011. Because of the “Thinking Time” process, I moved the majority of my training online. We’ve had over 5,000 graduates of the online programs. The “Thinking Time” process helped me turn a humiliating failure into an absolutely HUGE cash cow!

I used this process this week, when I caught myself making a huge mistake, with a webinar launch. Because of the “Thinking Time” process, I redid my approach and realized an immediate increase in registrations.

But enough about me . . .
