Here's An Idea; Do The Opposite Of What Your Competitors Are Doing

One way to seriously limit your opportunities, is to limit your efforts to doing what everyone else is doing.

Said another way . . .

Consider doing the OPPOSITE of What Your Competitors Are Doing.

Example;

There’s an old sales axiom that invites us to “Go where the money is”. That’s sound advice, and by all means, go where the money is, but, what if, in addition to going “there”, you also considered going where the money ISN’T?

Think about it, when are you most likely to change something, when you’re in pain or when you’re nice and comfy?

Conventional wisdom leads us to believe that companies that are hurting, can’t afford us, but I maintain that if you can tie your solution to top line growth or bottom line savings, funds can be allocated.

Another way (and I’ve been really trying to reinforce this message lately) is to step up your efforts during times when your competitors are winding down theirs.

Take summer, for example;

Many of your competitors will step away from their hunting efforts, you know, because its summer and all.

What the hell is that?

And more importantly, why are you going along with that idiotic mindset?

It’s the same limiting mindset that has people turning what should be 1 week at Christmas, into a 6 week, mental sabbatical that starts at Thanksgiving and concludes after January 1st.

So . . .

What if you did the opposite and actually stepped up your efforts?

For example;

Aside from increasing the amount of calls, emails, etc, I send out a very specific mailing piece,this time of year.

It’s message is simple;

“It’s Never Too Early To Train For An EPIC Year”

Many of my competitors slack over the summer because many VP’s of Sales won’t schedule training events.

I do the opposite and deliver a message that summer is actually one of the best times to train a sales team.

I mean think about it for a second;

Wouldn’t it make more sense to pull a team out of the field during a slower time?

Heck, I even have a new online course coming out on July 21st.

Who the heck does that over the summer?

I DO! Because I see the value in doing the opposite of what my competitors choose to do!
