I was always impressed with those “LiveStrong” bracelets everyone wears.
I was so impressed that I decided not to get one.
I wanted to create one that was more “Castain” specific . I wanted something that spoke to who I am as a person. And quite honestly, I wanted something that would serve as a reward . . . For me.
I know. How dare we do something selfish, for ourselves. What the heck was I thinking?
So I went to a local jeweler and had them design a bracelet, for me, that was inscribed
“Intentional Life”
The concept of the “Intentional Life” is quite simple . . .
Its refusal to embrace “seat of your pants”
It’s taking ownership of who you are and what you will ultimately become.
Leaving nothing to chance.
Its about rejecting impulsive thoughts that might get you into trouble (ie telling that A Hole that they’re an A Hole)
Its about being Intentional!
I’ll let you in on a little secret.
I make it a point to look at that bracelet when I’m training sales jedis or delivering a speech . . . its my reminder to intentionally kick ass (accidental ass kickings aren’t as much fun)
It also reminds me to do the right thing because sometimes I need a little nudge!
The funny thing about that crazy bracelet is that its merely a physical “face” to something that lives inside of all of us . . . it’s there when we’re ready to “wear it”
I must admit, I don’t know you, but I bet there are things you need to be more “intentional” about:
– How you choose to interpret the good, the bad and the ugly in your life.
– How you choose to judge others (someday, I’ll get this one perfect, I promise)
– Not allowing others to take your joy.
– Your relationships
– How you will kick ass. On your terms! You’re allowed to be intentional in your strategy and your “weapons” you know.
You can also be intentional, in declaring today as the day you hit your threshold with something you MUST change . . . then do something about it.
This one isn’t about Uncle Paul’s bracelet folks . . . its about you . . .
Taking the wheel and saying . . .
“Move over . . . I’m a much better driver and its my freakin car!”
To your intentional life!
