75 Qualities Of Sales Rock Stars!

A few days back I asked our readers “What are the qualities of a rock star sales person?” Between the responses on the actual blog and additional emails, I was able to compile a list of over 75 qualities and have prepared a cool PDF for you which we’ll discuss in a moment.

If you recall, I promised a next step and told you that this was going somewhere.

Here’s the deal.

When you look at the list, you’ll notice that there are 5 blank spaces. That’s to invite you to continue to add to this list so it becomes a living breathing document for your development.

There are also some other curious blank spaces to the right of each quality. Its there for you to rate yourself on a scale from 1-10. 10 being complete mastery of the quality. 1 being “I’ve fallen and can’t get up” 🙂 I think it would be time well invested for you to take a few moments to look in the mirror. And when I say “look in the mirror” I don’t mean the one that makes you look good, I mean the full length one. Like the one I looked in the other day and said “Dad?”

Once you rate yourself, select one area where you scored the lowest and one where you scored the highest. Note: It’s easy to guess why we are picking the lowest but why pick an area where you kick ass? Its simple . . . so you continue to kick ass and maybe, just for a goof, you can find away to bring it up a notch!

Assignment: Take an action step on each of the two items within the next 24-48 hrs. Note: The time frame is critical so life doesn’t get in the way of your good intentions. Never happens. Right?

Examples of action steps:

Talk with someone who’s getting the result you are looking for

Pick up a book or cd

Read an article, listen to a podcast

Setting aside some practice time to hone the selected areas

Optional last step (if you want to accelerate your progress) Get an accountability partner and then (get this) hold each other accountable with a weekly or biweekly accountability call.

Note To Sales Managers: This would make a way cool sales meeting for you to facilitate. You’re welcome!
