Well, hopefully by now, you have some success stories of how you helped other companies during the pandemic, no?
Start sharing those stories in your cold outreach, during your demos and followup, in the content you post on LinkedIn, etc.
Why?
Because when people are hesitant, they’re typically interested in how people, just like them, handled a challenge, in fact;
In Paul Smith’s Sell With A Story, he suggests using the phrase;
“Just like you” at the beginning of this type of story.
So if I were to talk with someone in the printing industry about how I helped someone in their space, I might begin by saying;
“(Name), I wanted to share how I was able to help someone, just like you, not only survive the last few months of the pandemic, I want to share how they’re actually thriving”.
If you don’t have a good story from their space, how about one that involves someone in a similar role?
Stories are incredibly powerful (or at least can be) because they can jumpstart our emotions as well as provide some gentle peer pressure.
Action Item: Get your sales team together for a conference call and brainstorm success stories that occurred during the pandemic.
Have everyone write them out and send them to someone who will compile them all in a Google Doc.
Practice telling these stories with your team.
Create templates you’ll use for email, phone, etc.
