Pop quiz . . .
What happens when you leave a meeting that was filled with negativity and complaining?
I’ll tell you what DOESN’T happen . . .
Sales reps feeling inspired to go out and sell something!
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a fan of over-the-top, feel-good, fake positivity, but;
At a minimum, we shouldn’t be looking to chip away at the team’s body armor before sending them back into battle!
I had a strict rule as a sales manager;
If any sales rep had a problem with me, the company, the policies, customers, etc.;
I would always hear them out OFFLINE and not in front of the team!
In return, if I had any issues with my sales rep, their performance, etc.;
I would address it OFFLINE, and not in front of the team!
As a manager, I want to make sure our sales meetings lift team members up instead of knocking them down.
Make sense?
Perhaps this is a rule you can implement with your team?
