
I want to share something that appeared in my inbox minutes ago, and;
It’s the type of email that I will NEVER even open.
First, here’s how the preview text appeared;

The preview text tells me that they are sending me the exact, same, email, that I had zero interest in a few days ago.
The preview text tells me there isn’t any value in spending my time, again, reading something that didn’t get my attention the first time.
It’s also incredibly needy and typical.
If you’re trying to let decision-makers know that you can provide creative solutions to their challenges;
You really have to do better than forwarding the previous email with a “Did you read my last email?” vibe.
A better way would have been;
Be mindful of the preview text and craft your email in a way that the first 150 characters create mystery and intrigue, instead of;
Telegraphing your punches!
And if you’re going to “bump” the previous email, simply continue the conversation.
It’s brilliant because it pushes the email to the top of the inbox while putting an RE in the subject line giving it the feel of an ongoing dialogue, and;
It continues the conversation by adding context!
There are other ways to continue the conversation (even if it’s a one-way conversation);
You can add a “By the way” or a “Here’s something else to think about”.
You can provide a screenshot, a video, or a before and after pic.
You can provide an example, a case study, or a testimonial. You can provide an idea, a resource, or something helpful.
Even the worst of these ideas I shared with you today is 10 times better than forwarding the same shitty email over and over again, no?
