Like any other social networking platform, Google+ has mixed reviews.
Some “Get It”
Some Don’t
I’m no different with my opinion and it can certainly fluctuate day by day as I embark on yet another platform.
Let’s address my “I don’t get it days” in plain, straight up, in your face lingo.
Nobody truly cares about my “getting it” or not “getting it” . . . they care that I show up and engage where THEY (they being my target audience) care to engage.
Let’s look at it like any other relationship.
If you like to hang out at a specific place and you’ve deemed that place your “hang out of choice” and meanwhile, I don’t “get” your hang out and keep hanging out at my hang out . . . I miss out!
Note: I just exceeded my quota on saying “hangout” and won’t be saying it for the next 3 months.
Like any other social networking platform people will criticize the quality of the content OTHERS are sharing.
To that I would reply “What’s with the entertain me circus boy” attitude? Perhaps all of these platforms would be better if we worried about getting our own act together!
Focus more on the quality of your own message and less on the ability of others to keep you entertained. I mean sometimes we act like we just subscribed to a premium cable channel that tricked us into an endless loop of Sally Struthers tear fests!
Finally, I won’t make my final judgment until I can honestly say I’ve given Google+ everything I have which means . . .
“Showing Up” Daily
Engaging and not just broadcasting post after post.
Not complaining, critiquing and judging . . . Engaging as in getting involved!
Then . . .
Doing this for 60-90 days straight.
At that point, I can pretty much tell you that barring some major, unforeseen challenge . . . I will still stay with it because its still about my target audience and where THEY wish to engage.
And I do think it totally sucks that we all have more work to do now that we have one more place to “show up” to but . . .
that excites me because I know that many people aren’t willing to do it!
I’ll part with a little (and even a lot of) sweat any day.
Sweat is free but still . . . many (perhaps too many) are deathly afraid of it!
Meanwhile, I hope to continue our relationship on Google+ click here to join my circle!
