There’s something empowering about the phrase “I’ll do it today!”
Sounds so much better than “I’ll do it later” or “I’ll get to it tomorrow”
Quite frankly, it’s way more empowering than “I’ll do that someday”
“Later” seems to carry over into “tomorrow”!
“Tomorrow” easily turns into “next week” and eventually . . .
“Someday” never comes!
Today’s message cut dramatically short so you identify a “later” “tomorrow” or “someday”
and . . .
Get going on it today!
Oh, and did I mention that “Someday” never comes 🙂

Love this post Paul, especially the graphic. That is a classic! I think we all have procrastination in our blood to a certain degree. I myself fight it often. Heck my wife and I are still battling to get some things done around the house for years. Ouch!
But in terms of my internet business, I have adopted the mantra of “a little bit every day”. If I get more than a little bit done every day, then it is a bonus. What I would find is I would procrastinate and procrastinate, then finally work on it in a large chunk of time say once a week, but I felt pressure to spit out too much content rather than little bits at a time. Works for me, and maybe others. Thanks!
Thanks Tim!
“A little bit each day” as you have so brilliantly shared, is a powerful mantra and one that I’m about to swipe from you and put in my journal!
Thanks for sharing that and thanks for the inspiration last night on Twitter. Thanks to you I went back in to this post and upgraded my tombstone picture 🙂
Hey bud swipe away! That is why we are here, to share and help each other grow. I was very flattered that you took my suggestion and changed the graphic last night. That was awesome and I was proud to show my wife the change on your blog post too!
Funny story. Within an hour of responding to your post, my wife wanted to discuss a clean up project in our basement that has been nagging us for a very long time. Her exact quote, “we are going to set a timer, and work on it for one hour each day”.
I thought that was awesome, because that is pretty much the type of thinking that I wrote in your blog when I responded last evening! Have a great day and chat soon! Tim
Nice. Although, there is something creepy about seeing your name on a tombstone even in jest…just sayin’ Keep up the great work and inspiration to keep us going…Today!
Alright I’ll return the tombstone right after I finish my third cup of coffee 🙂
Thanks for stopping by Joan!
Yep, @Tim Mushey, I’m picking up what you’re laying down, brother! The key for me is also systematically picking away at a project. Darren Hardy wrote a terrific little book that expounds on this keystone to success: “The Compound Effect: Multiplying Your Success, One Simple Step at a Time”
Great suggestions Jess . . . I need to check out that book by the way!
Thanks!
Thanks Paul — good thoughts again — I look forward to your posts. “Someday” are the stacks of “things to read” I have around. Time to clean it out.
Debbie
Thank you Debbie 🙂
Have a great day!
Paul:
A very good reminder. Thanks.
I heard Shaquille O’Neil’s mother talk on NPR about this very thing. She recalled that he had come home from basketball camp one summer, feeling pretty outdone by the many players there who were shorter but much more skilled and agile (and therefore, better).
She asked what he planned to do. He said he had a few things he needed to focus on, and that he’d work on his game “later.”
She said, “Son, later doesn’t always come to everybody.”
Shaquille credits those words as the ones the made all the difference for him. They’re what made him ditch “later” and start working on his game right then.
And we all know what happened.
So you’re right, Paul. Great post.
Susan
A belated “Thank you” Susan!
I really like that story and I believe its indicative of life.
“Later doesn’t always come to everybody!”
Thanks again and have a wonderful day Susan!
Thanks for a thought provoking post…and a swift wake up call as well (-:
Thank YOU Patrick . . . I really appreciate that you took the time to stop by to say that.
Have a great day!
Paul,
Great job as usual! Message delivered & received, again. Thank You!
You know I have commented before and it has always been on the rightness of the message and the manner in which You deliver it.
And though I have been hesistant to mention it, today’s topic demands that I say it today and not later:
” Your custom-graphics are always so cool.
And whom ever is behind that deserves an award for the triple serving of humor, intelligence and esthetic appeal.
Well done!
Peace,
Josie
Wow Josie . . . you made my day!
Thank you 🙂
Hi Paul,
I have a saying ‘start as you mean to go on’, which means that I appreciate the time I have, use it wisely and get things done. It might take more than one day, but I love the challenge!
I love that saying of yours Carole.
Thanks for stopping by and for sharing it with us!
