Back in 2010 I set a goal to start utilizing video in my “Castain 2.0” branding strategy and guess what?

I completely wussed out!

I put it off, blew it off and always had really good reasons for not getting to it.

Bottom line . . . I was scared folks!

I was scared of all the things I would have to learn in order to do it the way I wanted to do it.

I had no clue where to start with the software, the proper video camera and microphones and quite frankly it was overwhelming to me.

I feel like such an ass admitting this but I really was scared of it because it required me to move outside my writing and podcasting comfort zones . . .

Where I had already been accepted by my Sales Playbook community!

Then one day, I had enough of the proverbial “thousand deaths” thing and decided to head butt this fear as I have done with other fears.

I made the first video in the fall and then guess what happened?

I wussed out again for about 6 months!

The good news is that I was aware that I was going right back to my avoidance thing so I decided to not only create a video schedule, I decided to start shooting videos for the various services pages I have up on my website.

Here’s my latest video promoting my Presenting Your Solutions With IMPACT webinar but before you watch it, I want to share something with you.

I’m still not that comfortable with video yet, but with each new video, I’m honing my skills.

One last thing . . .

When I shot this video the other day a very strong sense of perspective came over me.

I realized that the webinar I was promoting had to do with presentation skills . . . something that I was deathly afraid of 14 years ago.

I faced that fear and I kicked its ass.

Not overnight and not without a few battle scars but . . .

14 years later a substantial part of my income is generated from giving keynote addresses at sales conventions. Go figure!

The funny thing is that my intentions at the time were to simply conquer my fear of public speaking!

Truth be told, we never know what doors a conquered fear might open!

At the very least . . . it creates new muscle groups to enable us to rise to the next challenge.

Before you watch the video, when was the last time you looked deep within your soul and identified the things that scare you?

More importantly, when was the last time you faced them and took action?

These questions are not asked from a snooty “I’ve got my act together” perspective . . . They’re asked with respect from someone who has found too much solace in simply not “dealing”.
