Thanks to the internet our brand is challenged each and every day with the click of a mouse.

It’s no longer inconvenient for people to shop to get a better price. It’s actually quite easy but . . .

It doesn’t mean we have to like it nor does it mean that we have to sit here and tolerate it!

It might mean that our prospects never hear us because we’re not only blending in with the other 10,000 people offering what we do . . .

It might mean we’re boring the heck out of them to the point that there’s no value in listening to us!

I know . . . OUCH!

A few months ago Dollar Shave Club took the world by storm by being . . .

Ballsy, edgy, different and fun and yet . . .

I can’t say that I would ever have associated a razor with any of those things!

Perhaps that’s what they did right!

In looking at what you bring to the party; is it possible for you to . . .

Create an experience

Time Out . . .

When you order from Dollar Shave Club you get a membership card and a welcome note reminding you that you are part of an elite group. Its all said tongue in cheek but the whole approach is really cool considering . . .

All we’re really talking about is a razor folks!

Could you also . . .

Package your messaging in a way that’s different and actually refreshing

Shake things up a bit by not playing by the same tired rules everyone else plays by

Bring some fun into the mix

Bring some humor into the mix

Do something that other people aren’t willing to do

Offer something first, better or exclusively

And most of all . . .

Sprinkle it with something that can’t be commoditized . . .

YOU!

Let’s be clear about a few things . . .

I’m not telling you to go out and drop an “F-Bomb” so you can be different and shake things up nor am I telling you that you should be an ass under the guise of “just being who I am”.

I’m just saying that in not being who you are, and by not embracing a willingness to take a few chances . . .

You might be inadvertently boring the heck out of people to the point . . .

That they will mistakenly think that you are just like the others and . . .

Compensate you accordingly!
