For many of us here in the states, tomorrow signifies our first day back after a 3-4 day weekend (depending on how hard you partied).
While many will be physically there . . . they are still mentally on vacation or
They fall into the old “excusitus” trap and justify no activity with statements like . . .
“Nobody is buying this week”
“Buyers are just getting back this week and don’t want calls from sales people”
First of all, if you are a competitor of mine . . . please keep thinking this. You are helping me put my kids through college.
For the rest of you . . . Your competitor absolutely loves you!
Here’s the deal (and I’m going to be blunt)
I’m seeing way too many people milking holidays a lot longer than they should. In some cases, its several days before as well as several days after.
Before you think I’m this insensitive ass who obviously doesn’t enjoy slowing down . . . Think again!
In fact, if you want to take a few days before and a few days after . . . I think you should do it and have a blast doing so but . . .
If you aren’t working and you aren’t officially on vacation . . .YOU”RE DOING NOTHING!
Make a choice!
Here’s an insurance policy to help you tomorrow!
Make sure you have your day thoroughly planned (I bet you’re nodding your head saying “Already done”) then . . .
Think about how long you’ll give all those “So how was your weekend?” discussions before you politely end them and get to work.
Think about how you will interrupt your own pattern should you start embracing excuses or if you find yourself wasting time with coworkers who are chewing your ear about this being a sucky week to sell.
Confucius say . . .
Sucky weeks manifest when obsessing over sucky week while sitting on assets.
If You’d Like A Gold Star . . .
How about thinking about a call or two that you’ve been putting off or (God forbid) a call to someone who previously turned you down.
How about a creative prospecting activity or simply asking yourself this brainstorming question (TODAY)
“In what ways can I hit the ground on Tuesday and go after all the opportunities that are waiting for me?”
How about changing something up today?
How about calling a prospect with an idea?
Perhaps you’d like to use this free report to generate at least 3 new phone appointments each week?
If you agree with what I’ve written, then make sure you put this in your playbook to be applied during the next holiday.
Sooner or later, we simply need to stop the excuses and get back to work. No?
This was offered to you today not as a rant from some self righteous ass. It was offered from someone who has fallen into this trap too many times and simply wants you to learn from his mistakes.
Wishing you an awesome week of selling!
