Whether we’re reviewing a proposal with a potential client, demoing a product, presenting an idea or setting up a Webex, conference call or Skype session; We do a tremendous amount of presenting as aspiring sales rock stars.
Here are 5 easy things you can do, to ROCK your presentation skills!
1) Have Everyone On The Sales Team Record Their Webex Meetings. This is a great way to learn from each other while embracing the “game tape” mentality. The “game tape” mentality is when we review the “game tape” just like the coaches and teams do in professional sports. It allows us to learn from each other and better yet, helps us lose our egos and once again become the humble student!
Note To Sales Leadership: These recorded Webex meetings are a great training tool for your new recruits on the team too
2) Take Turns Presenting Something In Your Team Sales Meetings. It could be a quick overview of your company, a report on a competitor, perhaps something from this website or my podcast? I used to have my team read different books and then present a quick 5 minute overview for the team. The point of the exercise is to work your presentation muscles and work them via the toughest audience in the world . . . other sales people!
3) Speak Whenever Possible: Library, Chamber, offer to share something in your sales meeting with the team, church, and let’s not forget Webex. Perhaps you can host a free webinar for your clients? How about a free webinar for potential clients?
The point is to work the muscle group MORE than a typical rep would. Why? Because you’re not aspiring to be typical! That’s why!
4) Study People Who Kick Ass At This: Go to YouTube and watch presentations from Tony Robbins, Seth Godin, Steve Jobs, Zig Ziglar, Ted Talks etc. Oh, and don’t forget to study people on your sales team too.
