There was a scene in Wall Street when Bud Fox finally was granted access to Gordon Gecko after cold calling the dude mucho days in a row.
He’s about to walk through the doors in Gecko’s office and he turns to Gecko’s assistant and says “Life all comes down to a few moments . . . this is one of them!”
I was in a rather introspective mood the other day and thought about my “moments” both business and personal.
There was a “moment” back in 1988 when I watched my future wife walk down the aisle and my freakin lip quivered. It was followed by years of additional moments when I denied it to people who reminded me of my “moment” 🙂
I had 3 “moments” to be exact when each of my 3 children were born. I vowed to never let anyone or any thing rob me of my “moments” with them.
There was a “moment” during the nightshift one evening back in 1996 when I absolutely had it with my life. I was pissed, disappointed and tired of losing.
It was a “moment” when I found my huevos and decided I was worth more than $8.50 an hour!
I’ve had numerous “moments” when I have caught myself knee deep in totally loving life. I appreciate these moments because I had spent way too much time being uptight to allow myself this gift.
Past and present moments are wonderful, but . . .
We must also visualize future moments that represent the things we want in our lives and moments that represent the best possible YOU (and me too)
I see a “moment” when I step on that scale and I’ve lost the weight I need to lose.
I see a “moment” when my book is completed and published.
I see “moments” when I write all those college checks and I’m not sweating it.
Same with my little girl’s wedding one day. Note: I can also see that problem with my quivering lip happening again!
But I also see a moment at the end of my life when I will reflect on all of the moments and . . .
Decide whether I lived my life fully, with intention and without regret.
The good news is that it brings us all back to today and how we choose to spend our allotted “moments”!
