If there’s one point. that I’m trying to drive home this summer, it’s for you to stop using the summer as an excuse to slow down your sales efforts.
Stop with the justifications for slacking like “No use in calling because people are off on vacation” “Nobody sets appointments over the summer” etc.
If you truly believe things slow down over the summer, instead of having a whole bunch of “admin days” or worse yet, sitting around and talking about how slow it is . . .
Decide to do something about it!
That’s what I did, mucho summers ago when I was selling printing.
I became a tad sick and tired of all the slackers pissing and moaning about how bad the summer was.
I became sick and tired of them trying to get me involved in their “screw off fests” where they did absolutely nothing all day, except piss and moan.
Then it occurred to me . . .
If my sales team was doing this, then other teams were doing this and if other teams were doing this then this is my opportunity to outwork them!
So I put together an aggressive plan and worked my ass off that summer and are you ready for this?
I didn’t bring in one new account!
Yep . . . A big goose egg for Uncle Paul but then again . . .
Come September, I averaged 2 new accounts per month and rode the wave until the next summer.
Then everyone started saying I was so lucky as a new sales rep to be closing so much business.
So the question this summer (and any time you have a challenge) is simply . . .
