When it comes to prospecting, there’s a really simple tactic that will help you change up your messaging;
Always leverage what you’ve been given!
For example, it’s the end of summer, and Labor Day is rapidly approaching here in the U.S. Work that into the conversation.
Prospecting on a Friday? Work that into the conversation.
Holidays? Work them into the conversation.
There’s this thing that’s been going on for like 18 months now called a “Pandemic”. Work that into the conversation.
Note: When the pandemic first hit, many of us shifted to a “work from home” model. My son worked not only worked that into the conversation, but he also used it as an effective segue into how his solution helped companies run their operation off-site.
Time out!
When I say “Work that into the conversation”, I mean both in a conversational way as well as a value driven way,
For example, we’re experiencing a pandemic. That doesn’t mean you should open your cold call with a “How about that pandemic” statement;
It means you should think about what topics, resources, tips, suggestions, ideas, etc might be valuable to the recipient.
So “leveraging what you’ve been given” isn’t just a conversation tip;
It’s looking at how the person at the other end of that phone might be impacted by a holiday, summertime, a pandemic, something going on in their local area, etc, and then modifying your talk track accordingly.
Make sense?
Now get out there and try it!
