Don’t ask me why I chose to watch an interview with Wayne Newton a few years back.
I was never really a big fan!
It probably started back when I learned it was that bastard singing Danke Schoen and not Ferris Bueller but I digress.
He was talking to Larry King and was talking about a bad illness he was recovering from and he referred to the experience as a “tap on the shoulder”. In other words . . . something that catches your attention and forces you to take notice and action.
In his case, he not only took notice, he chose to slow it down and bring more balance into his life.
I believe these can come to us in the form of challenges and tragedies and they can also come to us in the form of thoughts and positive things that come into our consciousness.
It can be a moment of gratitude
A moment when you look at something differently and “own” the lesson.
It can be the moment you catch yourself digging your life or even
Not digging your life . . . but the tap on the shoulder inspired you to stop complaining and start changing it.
I guess that leads us to two important questions . . .
Have you ever received a tap on the shoulder?
Are you about due?
