An Estimated 16.1 Million Americans Will Call In Sick Today

Posted February 12, 2024

According to new research conducted by The Harris Poll, 16.1 million Americans will call in sick today because of the mental and physical effects of Super Bowl Sunday! And yes, I’m being sarcastic!

Looking at the amount of beer and food I consumed last night, I probably should have given myself the day off, but then again;

I enjoy leveraging opportunities to change up my sales messaging, and so should you!

Whenever there’s a holiday, I look at how I can leverage that holiday.

Last year (On Super Sick Monday) I called Sales Managers and had a little fun by asking them what percentage of their team is out sick because of the devastating effects of the Super Bowl.

It created a laugh and a segue into a conversation.

Conversations that didn’t exist before.

We can expand this to holidays, seasons, and events.

A few examples to consider;

At year end many companies are not only working on their budgets for next year, they’re trying to stretch what’s left in their existing budget. That’s an opportunity to change your messaging!

At the beginning of each year, there’s a need to fill a few more jobs as its a common time for employees to move on to “greener pastures”. Talk about that.

There’s tax season. Eh, maybe you shouldn’t talk about that one 🙂

There are industry events that take place at certain times of the year. Nice opportunity to change the conversation up?

Cintas Completely ROCKS This Tactic . . .

Cintas uses “seasonal messaging” by preparing themed kits that they drop off with their potential clients.

I’ve seen examples where they dropped things off for Football season, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Mardi Gras, Spring, etc.

Holidays and the different seasons are great opportunities to change things up because;

You can’t possibly “court” a potential client by having the same conversation over and over again!

In what ways can YOU leverage holidays, seasons, and even “Super Sick Monday” to change up your messaging?
