Cold Sales Emails . . . Something To STOP Doing Immediately!

I’ve never been a fan of a particular type of cold sales email opening, and I’m hoping when I tell you why, you’ll change your approach.

Please stop with the “My name is (your name) and I’m with (company name)” opener.

Why?

First, it’s silly because there’s this really cool thing on an email that tells you who it’s from. I get it that you’re trying to make it conversational, but that approach plays out better during verbal communication.

Next, it’s not only typical, it “telegraphs your punches” in that the recipient knows this is probably spam.

IMPORTANT: Thanks to the preview text (that little bit of text you see without opening the email) there’s a good chance your email won’t even be opened. 

Finally, there are stronger ways to open your sales email like leading with something about the recipient’s world,

So instead of wasting time by introducing yourself or the equally lame “Hope you are well”, try a variation of the phrase “I noticed that (something you noticed in your research that you might be able to help them with)”.

You absolutely MUST show IMMEDIATE relevance to a busy decision maker or that preview text will have you disregarded and deleted!
