How To Create “Helpful” Status Updates And Stand Out In The Process

Take a look on your social network of choice and you will see an endless sea of “stuff”.

Most of it is just that . . . “stuff”.

Meanwhile, we try to do our best to keep our network updated via our status updates and guess what . . .

We fail to stand out!

There are lots of ways to stand out, but one really cool way to stand out is to be helpful!

You’ll find an immediate advantage because most people are either all about the “play by play” or all about dishing out heaping helpings of “Me Centered” updates.

Here are a few quick and easy ideas that you could literally do within seconds of reading this.

Start your day off on your social networks by asking . . . “How can I help someone today?”

You will immediately position yourself as a caring breath of fresh air. Also, everyone loves to tell everyone that they’re a resource but fail to deliver in the “prove it” department!

This will go a long way to create value in your network . . . people like to hang out with people who are willing to help!

Oh and minor point . . . be willing to help!

Here are a few examples of this on Twitter that can be easily applied to any social networking platform!

Introduce people to your network via your status update

Since a picture tells a thousand words, check out these two examples of how I do this with my network.

Make someone look like a rock star to the rest of your network.

You can do this by resharing something they’ve shared, retweeting, etc but serve it up with a sincere compliment . . . in front of your whole freakin network!

Offer a daily tip


This is a great way for you to demonstrate your expertise in a way that also provides value to your network.

A tip regarding tips: Block out some time and create your tips for the week in one sitting. Most people I coach tell me this is easily accomplished within 15 minutes and its so much easier than having to think of these things as you go along!

So there you have it . . . A few really easy status update ideas to help you avoid “play by play” and actually serve your network!

PS . . . These cost you nothing to do!
