If you look at the bulk of the “social” advice making the rounds, you’ll notice it centers on creating a great profile and/or how to use the various LinkedIn features.
That’s awesome but in the spirit of bottom lining it;
There’s something more productive you should be focused on;
Especially when you find yourself in a position where you’d like to use LinkedIn but you’re way too busy!
Ready?
Focus on getting at least 3 of your LinkedIn connections, on a call each week.
Not a call to give them a pitch or;
Ask them for a favor (Isn’t it odd to ask someone for a favor the first time you ever interact with them?)
Just a call to get to know each other!
One where you show a genuine interest in (wait for it) THEM!
By the way, nobody really does that.
Most people are so busy trying to tell THEIR story that they pretty much talk over the other person.
How about a call where you ask how you can help them?
One where you ask if there’s a particular type of contact that they’d be interested in meeting should you stumble across them in your travels.
And you’re allowed to ask them if they know of anyone who would benefit from your product/service.
And that’s it!
Start alphabetically and reach out to 3 people, each week.
Do that for a year and you’ll have 150 people in your network who know who you are and;
Have a higher probability of being instrumental in a few of your sales in the year to come..
No cold calls involved just;
A willingness to do what 99.9% of the people on LinkedIn NEVER do;
Get on a phone call and INTERACT!
