You don’t guess what motivates a sales rep nor do you assume that you know it definitively!
You ask them!
Then you listen to them.
Then you do everything in your power to remove any speed bumps including . . .
Internal, corporate, political BS that has a bad habit of getting in the way of a rep’s success.
You also need to remove speed bumps that are unintentionally self inflicted!
Everyone has a story and wants to be heard but . . .
You can’t hear a story that isn’t being told to you and . . .
Stories are often untold until one is asked to share.
One more thing . . .
We could probably have a healthy debate as to whether or not you can truly motivate someone.
Whether you can or you can’t, you need to know that . . .
You absolutely CAN demotivate someone!
Perhaps there’s motivation in taking that type of behavior to a grinding halt 🙂
