It’s a rather troubling feeling to wake up each morning knowing you could be more than you have become.
Add to it this feeling of urgency to do something with your life . . . but what?
This was me for the better part of my adult life.
Yes, I had risen from the proverbial ashes after losing everything in 1995.
The money was there . . . but I was empty inside!
I was also quite sad and I never knew why until . . .
one day after lots of thought, and lots of prayer, it hit me.
I wanted to live a life that was undeniably one that mattered!
One where I contributed and knew in my heart that I made a difference!
Selfish, huh?
In February 2011, I hit my threshold and decided to listen to my heart and launch my business.
The first few months were scary!
While I was fortunate enough to have several instant clients, it wasn’t enough to financially validate my decision.
I watched my savings dwindle away and for a very short period of time, I thought maybe I screwed the proverbial pooch but . . .
I woke each morning happy and fulfilled and no longer felt empty.
I was experiencing a sense of peace that I had never felt before and you know what?
That was the deciding factor for me . . . If I could so thoroughly love what I was doing when the money wasn’t overly abundant, well I’d say Uncle Paul found his calling!
A few months ago, things picked up radically as if some cosmic rock star pushed a fast forward button on my revenue.
Today, my business is kicking ass without taking names. Truly I don’t need to know the names of asses I kick and don’t appreciate the pressure of having to take names. Who’s the genius who set that requirement?
The point is that I wanted this all along and wasn’t ready to listen to my heart, my soul and that horrible feeling of emptiness I carried.
That brings us to the gratitude portion of today’s rant
I am grateful for the opportunity to have fallen on my face back in 1995 because it forced me to make a promise that I would give back whenever and however I could.
I’m grateful for November 24th 2008 . . . That’s the day I had the guts to start blogging and start building the Paul Castain brand.
I’m grateful for that feeling that I could be doing more with my life because it forced me to break out of my comfort zone.
TIME OUT! Do you ever get that feeling that you could be doing more? If so, are you doing what you can to listen to your heart and at least begin a process so you can eventually fulfill your purpose?
I’m super grateful for my clients because we have a blast and I get to watch them attain new levels of rock stardom and you know what . . .
Don’t think for a moment that I’m not grateful for you!
You take the time to read my blog, leave comments, spread the word and even send me offline emails telling me how much this blog means to you!
I’ll spare you all the “You complete me” BS and simply say . . .
Thank you!

Paul, you have no idea how timely your post is. My problem, I’m a big chicken and stuck thinking financially that I cannot take that first step. You have inspired me to find that baby step to move forward with what fills me.
