Perhaps one of the coolest things I admired about my Dad, was his appreciation and respect for life. I don’t recall ever hearing him talk about “someday” or “when I retire we’re going to to . . .”, he lived in the moment, the now, THE PRESENT.
Good thing too because there wasn’t much time for someday as life had him on the “65 year” plan.
He was a master at leaving his work at the office so he could enjoy his family.
Easier said than done, I know, but how are you doing in that department?
It seems so much of our life can get swallowed up in the quest to be rock stars that we forget to live it, enjoy it and savor the hell out of it!
You can’t do that if you are still mentally at work so . . .
Turn off the cell when you are with your family and friends. By the way, I screwed up last night during a date with my wife. I responded to an email on my blackberry. Don’t freakin do that! Side note: Couples, get out and have a date. Laura and I are together 27 years and never stopped dating!
Get off the laptop (I will follow my own advice after I post this I promise)
Leave the “BS” at the office. Your load will be so much lighter when you aren’t carrying the Client from hell, possessed co workers and bosses who resemble Satan. Don’t let them take your weekend!
Appreciate your family. Expiration dates are a bitch and we all have them.
Carve out some “me” time. To that end, I need to get back to my old friend the guitar this weekend. Apologies in advance to anyone living within a 3 block radius of Casa de Castain!
