There’s one thing that drives me absolutely bat sh*t crazy this time of year;
It’s this need to milk what should be (at best) a one week observance of the holidays into a full out, 3 week mental check out!
As I’ve said before, slow down this holiday season.
Take some time off to recharge but;
Its just silly to lose a few weeks because you heard “I’ll be home for Christmas” and tapped out!
Oh, and convincing yourself that doing admin and planning for the next few weeks is still tapping out!
The only thing that tops this need to check out for 3 weeks is the Red Bull Adrenaline rush that hits at the start of the year.
Again, we kid ourselves into thinking “This year is going to be the best” when;
We continually use holidays and summer as an excuse to;
Fail to put in the work!
So please forgive the negative tone but someone needs to be the dick and tell you that you’re hurting yourself!
Make a simple choice this holiday season;
If you’re working . . . WORK!
If you’re not . . .Then take a day (or multiple days) off and enjoy!
Last Chance . . .

Great message Paul. I see this in my trainees each year and it comes down to a lack of discipline. As a business owner, working at least a few days during the holidays isn’t a choice but a necessity. My top 3 projects planned are a full-out CRM migration, implementation of new accounting software, and developing a better presentation for my lunch and learn program.
I hear the tone in your post and share your frustration. It’s a great time of year to re-connect with family and friends, but lest we forget that it equates to approximately 11 or 12 days off (including weekends) and is no different than any other booked vacation throughout the year. In requires planning for both before and after the holidays so we can maintain our flow and don’t waste time with ramping up again.
