A few years ago, I blew off getting together with a dear friend I hadn’t seen in 20 plus years.
My excuse at the time was that business was insane for me and I figured I’d catch up with him in a month or two.
After all, we had just spoken on the phone, so that shouldn’t be a problem, right?
Wrong!
He passed away suddenly and now I have a lot of unnecessary regret.
Bruce was the singer/guitar player in a band I was in right out of high school and I had some of the best times with him and his brother Mark.
Mark was the drummer.
Mark and I kept in touch after Bruce’s funeral and we talked about getting together in March of this year.
Like an asshole, I almost blew it off.
Two unexpected deals came in to Castain Training Systems and if we’re being honest, I was coming off of some family stuff that became rather time consuming.
I was reaching for the phone to let Mark know March wasn’t going to happen when I became reunited with my senses.
I moved some things around and worked a few really long days to get the work done but;
As you read this, I’m hanging out with Mark and his wife, reminiscing about old times and celebrating new memories too!
Actually, I’m assuming that’s what I’m doing because I wrote this post in advance so I could enjoy life!
Sick Thought: Wouldn’t it be f’d up if my plane went down and I’m posting like I’m still alive?
All of this is just to say;
We really need to slow down and embrace the sh*t that REALLY matters
Take it from someone who is in the process of learning his lesson!
Peace!
TRUE! And the older we get, the more true it becomes. Hope you are having a fantastic time with your friend!
