I believe we’d all agree that one of the most important elements of an effective cold email is the call to action?
Traditionally, an email call to action consists of things like;
“Click here for more information”
“Click here to book an appointment” (I’ve never been a fan of this one).
“Reply to this email”
And we can easily add several others to this list that during normal times (you know, when there isn’t a pandemic going on) have worked just fine.
I would suggest something different right now!
Right before your “ask”, mention that you have a few ideas that might help with (something valuable that could help at a time like this).
Then soften your ask with;
“Would you be open to a quick call on (day and time) to discuss?”
Here’s what this minor change to your cold email does?
First, it provides a compelling reason for them to speak with you.
Second, nobody is going to accuse you of being insensitive during a time “like this”.
