R.E.S.P.E.C.T.!

Posted August 13, 2011

Pop quiz time . . . . Do you actually schedule the things that matter most to you?

Some do, some don’t . . . to each their own but . . .

Kind of hard to keep an appointment you don’t even have huh?

There’s even an evil step brother to the “I don’t schedule important things to me” thing.

It’s actually worse than not scheduling it too!

It’s when you schedule something important to YOU and you break that appointment.

Pop Quiz Numero Dos: Would you break an appointment with a client or prospect if it wasn’t an absolute emergency?

Let me go out on a limb and say “Hell No!”

Then perhaps its time you start giving yourself the same respect you are giving to others.

Assignment: Schedule something important to you and then . . .

Respect yourself by keeping the appointment!

Take note of that awesomel feeling you experience when you keep that appointment . . . that’s the feeling of control!

  1. Very important message here Paul, thanks for the post! My next point has been travelling around the internet a little bit lately, but the message is clear.

When the flight attendant goes through the emergency procedures overview at the start of a flight, they are sure to mention to put on your oxygen mask first, before helping others. I think that is a wonderful analogy for us to live our lives by. You need to take care of yourself first, and as you eluded too, schedule things that you enjoy for yourself as well. AND DON”T break those appointments!

    1. Thanks Jena . . . I’ve been there my friend. This is one of those things that I write about because I’ve made the mistakes.

Awareness is always the first step!

Go get ’em Jena . . . Uncle Paul believes in ya 🙂

  2. Thanks Uncle Paul for the reminder of this important lesson!  And thanks Tim for that great analogy. I try to schedule things but I don’t always do this for myself!

  3. I beat myself up last night for essentially what you are talking about here. The good news is that the appt is back on track and I’m pretty happy about it.

    Have a great weekend Paul.
