For the better part of 15+ years I’ve done something once a month that has paid HUGE dividends for me and my family!
I invest on the surest thing on the planet . . . ME!
As a sales professional, I’ve always had my usual paycheck and then once a month I get the good one . . . the one with the commission check!
Truth be told, sometimes that check has kicked ass and other times I feel like it reflected me getting my ass kicked when I experienced a tough month but . . .
No matter how big or how small the check has been . . . I always reinvest a portion of it in ME!
Sometimes its been something as simple as a cd, a book or a magazine.
Other times its been courses, seminars, webinars and coaching
I’ve invested in my appearance and bought suits, ties and monogrammed shirts.
I’ve bought apps for my iPhone, software for my computer and a headset so I can kick ass . . . hands free (don’t try this at home kids)
At some point (probably when I was thinking about pulling the plug on my monthly reinvestment) I realized something that I’d like for you to ponder . . .
Why is it that we’re willing to invest in strange companies through our 401k’s, investment plans etc but . . .
When it comes to ourselves we never have the money?
And now the really tough part . . .
Beware of your excuses!
“I don’t have the money” and yet you’re supporting a daily Starbucks habit and going out to lunch a few times a week.
“I don’t have the money” and yet you buy several scratch off tickets in hopes of hitting the jackpot . . . how’s that plan working for ya?
Don’t get me wrong, I have my little fixes that I enjoy but . . . when I do indulge in them, they are by choice and not done in a manner that holds reinvesting in me hostage!
So whether its a book, some clothing, an instructional or motivational cd or dare I say, a trip over to the Rock Star University web page for some awesome content . . . please do something.
I think you’re worthy of an investment in yourself!

Nice article Paul !! You are right on so many subjects as sales people we always have everyone else’s best intentions but not our own. I am going to make it a point to start trying to invest in myself.
That’s awesome Dave!
Thanks!
Awesome video Bro-Montana
Thank you Bro-hemeth!
I can’t wait to get my first “dividend” next week from Rock Star U!
And I can’t wait for this to land in your inbox Kathy.
Oh, and from time to time, there might just be some surprises coming at cha . . . you just never know 🙂
Rock on!
