When I look at everything I do to generate leads for Castain Training Systems, there’s one thing that pretty much beats the sh*t out of everything else I do.
And considering that I have a plethora (been dying to work that word in on my blog) of lead generation activities, that really says a lot!
No cold emailing/cold calling is involved.
I’m dead serious here. None, Nada, Zilch!
I’m going to warn you, this isn’t something new that I’m sharing.
I just wrote about it recently as well as 20+ times here on this blog but;
Here’s goes!
Ready?
Castain’s Kick-Ass Lead Gen System . . .
1) Go into your list of LinkedIn connections. Start alphabetically and pick at least 3 people you HAVEN’T spoken with yet.
2) Send them a brief email letting them know that you’re embarrassed that you’ve never reached out to get to know them better and you’d like to change that. Give them two scheduling options (like you would during a cold call) and that’s it.
3) Once you get them on the phone, DON’T launch into a sales pitch. Instead, show a genuine interest in getting to know the other person.
4) At the end of the call, ask them if there is anyone you should be on the look out for, that they’d be interested in connecting with.
5) Ask them who they know who might be able to utilize your product or service.
That’s it! Short, sweet, and REALLY effective!
How?
First, you’re doing something that nobody does on LinkedIn . . . Getting to know each other via the ancient art of a phone call.
Second, you are finding out how you can help them (never a bad thing)!
Third, you have a way of asking for a referral WITHOUT the conversation getting weird or salesy and;
You’ve created a relationship where its much easier to ask each other for help at some point in the future.
Example:
What if you’re doing your pre-call planning research and you discover that Jane Jones happens to be connected with Bob Smith (someone you’ve spoken with and have introduced to others). Now you can reach out to Bob and ask him if he can introduce you to Jane.
Now unless Bob is a jerk, I’m thinking his warm intro is going to be much better than that cold call you were about to make, no?
And that’s it.
