I recently went through something rough that I’m really ashamed to admit.
I’m not ashamed to admit it because it’s some terrible hardship . . .
I’m ashamed to admit it because I feel like a complete wuss telling you about it.
I found myself at the face end of an emotional left hook when my son went off to college a few weeks ago.
I was feeling awful and it was getting the best of me.
Having sold for as long as I have and having owned two businesses, sometimes we dismiss these emotions as only being for the weak!
Luckily I manned up and . . .
I decided to surrender!
I allowed myself a few tears (manly ones)
I allowed myself to think about it and then . . .
I said “F” it and I booked a trip up to see him this past weekend.
I left there feeling like my old self again . . .
Because I didn’t let some macho “I’m a sales badass” exterior keep me from dealing with something that needed to be dealt with.
And that’s the thing . . .
We’re really bad at that as sales professionals!
We need to know when to surrender (even if for a moment or a weekend like I just did)
So go ahead and have a good cry.
Know when it’s time to ask someone for advice.
And know when it’s time to turn on your Spiritual GPS because;
When you cling too much to your tough exterior . . .
You avoid a little something that experts refer to as . . .
“Dealing with it!”
I’m off to go start a bar fight or something so I can toughen up for you all again tomorrow 🙂
Peace!
