I can’t even begin to tell you how many blog posts, Linkedin discussions, articles, webinars etc I have partaken in that got side tracked on defining things.
Examples: The ongoing Cold Call debate and Conversation vs Engagement
Truthfully, I couldn’t care less, especially when nine times out of ten, everyone just said the same thing but we’re getting hung up on what its called.
Earmuffs gang. The next sentence isn’t pretty!
Who gives a sh*t?
At the end of the year when you look at your W-2, does your employer say “Oops. We need to change a few things because you called something a “warm call” that was really a cold call?”
Would my following be worth less if someone wants to refer to their comments as “engagement” and I call it a “conversation”? And just for a goof, what if I wanted to call it “Rock Star Commentary” or “Jedi Interaction” did I not just reap the same benefit regardless?
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m a firm believer in being able to “own” a concept enough to clearly articulate it.
But . . .
Sometimes, in the time you and I get around to agreeing, someone just came and ate our lunch!
