There’s an old proverb that goes something like this;
“If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm”
We all have enemies within.
For some it’s fear.
For others it’s self doubt and continually second guessing one’s self.
Who knows, maybe its simply you caring way too much about what other people think of you?
My “Enemy Within” Was Caring Too Much About How Others Thought Of Me!
Many years ago I worked with a group of people who made it a point to tell me my “New Yawk” accent was unappealing and it made me sound dumb.
I let it bother me more than I should of, until;
One day I decided that my accent, was not only me being me, it was also part of my charm.
I also decided to NOT to give a sh@t what other people thought of me!
And that’s when I realized the true meaning of;
“If there is no enemy within, the enemy outside can do you no harm”
For me, it boils down to how we internalize the world.
Good, bad, and flat out ugly things will come our way from the outside, but;
How we choose to deal with it on the inside ultimately makes the difference.
Here’s to finding and conquering your “enemy within” this year!
