
If I were to ask you “What’s THE BIGGEST mistake people make on LinkedIn?”, I’m willing to bet that you’d reply with “Connecting with someone and launching into an immediate sales pitch (aka “The LinkedIn Pitch Slap”, and;
You couldn’t be more wrong!
Don’t get me wrong, people hate it when that happens to them, but when you really stop and think about it;
It happens maybe 5-10% of the time, but;
If I were to ask you what percentage of your network has sent you an invite (that you’ve accepted), and then;
You NEVER heard from them again;
I bet there are way more people guilty of that (perhaps you as well) than people “pitch slapping”.
When we fail to make deposits we can’t expect there to be anything there to withdraw from.
It’s pretty much pointless to network this way if we’re being honest.
BTW: I’m not here to beat you up because you don’t keep in touch with your network;
I’m here to tell you that you’re leaving money on the table when you don’t.
