There once was a young student who told his teacher that he had figured out part of the meaning of life.
His teacher looked at him rather confused and asked him to enlighten him.
The young student, lit a big candle and placed it by a window. Within no time a small breeze blew the flame out. The young student relit the candle.
Another breeze blew it out.
He repeated the process and then turned to his teacher and said . . .
“Life is very much like that candle. The flame is a moment that will eventually burn out. The candle is our life and it facilitates that moment and many more. When the candle burns out it is done and is the case with our life”
The teacher smiled and asked the student to relight the candle and place it by the window.
Within seconds another breeze blew out the candle.
The student said “It is plain to see. Life is no different!”
The teacher relit the candle, closed the window and turned to the young man and said “The moments last longer when you protect them”
A few months ago, the BBC released a study that showed that the average attention span of a human being is now 9 seconds!
I think its safe to say that we are now living in a constant state of distraction.
Some of it is simply life, but some of it . . .
Is a window
Left open
Killing a moment.
Today, you are cordially invited to be conscious of the moments that comprise your life . . . more specifically the QUALITY of your life.
And just for the heck of it, once you’re conscious of those moments . . . know when its time to close the damn window so you can keep enjoying them!
Peace!
