You’d probably think that the worst thing you can do after connecting on LinkedIn is launching into a pitch, right?
There’s actually something more dangerous and actually more prevalent;
Connecting and then doing nothing!
And that, ladies and gentlemen is what the vast majority of people do on LinkedIn;
Connect and then focus their time posting sh*t instead of communicating with their network.
Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with posting stuff but riddle me this;
How many people in your network have ever made ANY attempt to communicate with you once you agreed to connect?
So as much as I despise the person who immediately launches into a pitch;
At least they’re making an attempt to do something with their network.
Here’s a question you should be able to answer in your sleep;
What is my communication plan from the moment someone connects with me on LinkedIn?
The average person will avoid that question because they have NOTHING, NADA, ZIP when it comes to a communication plan.
So they don’t do anything and then write LinkedIn off as a waste of time.
Or they don’t do anything and just putter along thinking all they have to do is post stuff.
Either way;
Money is being left on the table!
