I received a cold email today (the second within a 24 hour period) and it pretty much blew it for the sales rep.
Here’s how it appeared in my inbox. The text is blurred intentionally to keep the sender’s identity private.

First, and foremost, I didn’t even open the email because a) The subject line was spammy and b) The preview text and the “Re” in the subject line tell me they already sent this email.
We’ll get back to this in a minute.
Additionally, I find it a tad annoying for someone to send me a “bump” style email, 24 hours after the original email was sent. I can’t get past the “Hey dumbass how about a response” vibe.
A much better approach (if you feel you must send a “bump” style email) would have been to add something of value to the last email, and then tease me about it in the preview text.
Example: “Hey Paul, here’s something else I forgot to mention in my last email. Did you know . . .“
I see something like that in a preview text, curiosity sets in and I’m opening it.
Last but not least, we can argue the point about asking if I had any interest.
On one hand, I’m a big fan of saving time and dedicating my time to my highest probability prospects, but;
It’s kind of like asking someone if they’re interested enough to go on a date with you, immediately after being introduced.
The things I mentioned today are part of a much bigger problem;
Most sales reps DON’T have a premeditated cold email sequence, and they make a spur of the moment decision as to what to write when the CRM alert pops up.
What if, I did all the work for you in creating not only the email templates but the actual sequence?
Well, I have, and;
