The first few seconds of a cold call determine your fate, and;
That’s why I intentionally go “off script”!
Decision makers are used to an introduction and a “The reason for my call today . . . ” or a “How are you?” after the intro.
I introduce myself and say;
“Quick question, I noticed that ___________”
The “Quick question” part of the phrase takes them “off script” and renders their knee-jerk objection impossible to use.
The “I noticed that” part of the phrase demonstrates that I have something of interest to discuss because I fill in the blank with something I noticed about their company, industry, competitor(s), challenges, opportunities, etc.
After I reference something relevant, I end the statement with a question.
Questions help you take/keep control of the call and make it harder for the prospect to give you a knee-jerk objection.
Give it a try and better yet;
Give it a try and record your end of the conversation so you can listen to the “game tape” later!
