Last week, I made a bold move and authored a 90 page E-Book on social networking.
I didn’t write it because I felt I could become the next internet millionaire nor did I write it because I expected any degree of fame to come from it . . .
I wrote it because there’s an overabundance of technical training available while we continue to neglect the “social” aspect of social networking.
I wrote it because way too many people don’t know what to do after they’ve accepted an invite.
It’s kind of like we’re all sitting around waiting for something magical to happen and then we get pissed off when it doesn’t.
I should know, I was one of them and actually quit Linkedin in the spring of 2008 when the world didn’t beat a path to my door!
But wait . . . there’s more . . .
I wrote the book because there’s this constant stream (actually a raging river) of status updates and its all too easy to get swept away without ever getting noticed by our network.
I think there’s also two extreme mistakes that are being made via the social networking platforms . . .
One is rushing into a “Hi Wanna hook up?” scenario instead of engaging in a meaningful “courtship”.
The other extreme is when we leave the relationship on our computer screen and fail to transition it into real time!
Either way . . . its a lost opportunity!
Finally, you need to know that it was time for me to do this.
For three years, I’ve allowed my blog to become my safe excuse for not aggressively writing beyond a few hundred words at a time.
I thought it might be time for you and I to have a lengthier, 90 page visit.
