When it comes to prospecting, I’ve always been a fan of diversified outreach, instead of;
Just cold calls and email.
In other words, in addition to cold calling and email;
I think there should be things we do to complement (not replace) those efforts,
Things like LinkedIn, text messages (where appropriate), creative approaches, warm intro, drop in and drop off (obviously not while the world is in lock down mode) and;
Snail mail, but;
How do you send something to a decision maker when they’re working from home?
For most of you;
You’ve simply decided not to.
So now handwritten notes, greeting cards, FedEx, etc, are off the table, because your contact works from home?
Well it’s a little more complicated than that;
You probably feel funny asking for their home address, and I get it!
What if you had a good call/zoom meeting, WebEx, etc with a potential client and you said something like this;
“(Name), I’m going to send something to you and normally I’d send it to your office, but now that we’re working from home, I’d like to send it directly to you. May I send it to your home?”
If they agree, then ask for their address.
And just like anything else in sales;
Some will provide that info
Some won’t, but;
Why rule something out, because you really don’t know how to ask?
By the way . . .
As a decision maker, I love it when reps expand our relationship beyond the phone and email.
