How To Sell More Via Your Social Network

You probably shouldn’t read today’s blog post because I’m certain it will disappoint you!

If you are like most people, you are looking for some mega piece of awesome social networking advice like . . .

“Do these 3 things and make money instantly”

Or maybe you’re not really fixated on the word “instantly” and you’re looking more for a “next month”, “next quarter” or perhaps you’re ultra patient and are cool with it within the next 6 months.

If that’s you . . . step away from this blog post and run to Vegas, play the lotto, bet on a horse and hope for the best because this won’t appeal to you in the least.

For the rest of you, here are 2 things, you can do right now that will, over time make a huge difference and translate into money in your pocket.

1)   Take the people who are in your network and send them all an email detailing all the places where you have a social networking profile and end it with “Enough about me, where else can I connect with you?” People behave differently on different platforms and some people are more involved on other platforms. In your personal life you hang out in different places, right? It’s no different with social networking and you miss out if you aren’t hanging out with them where THEY want to hang out!

2)   Talk to 3-5 people from your network each week. Have a “Getting To Know You” call where you encourage them to talk about their favorite subject (I’ll give you a hint: It isn’t you) Before getting on the call, research your connection, Google them, do a search on Socialmention.com, read their profile thoroughly, read their blog if they have one. When you get this person on the phone, don’t even think about trying to sell them something and by all means ask them what an ideal client (or ideal person for them to network with) would look like.

Here’s what you’ll get if you do these two simple things:

1)   You will stand out because hardly anyone does these things and if they do, there’s almost certainly a really cheesy sales pitch attached to the effort!

2)   You will expand the places where you can connect and most probably find places where people are actually more active than where you are currently connected.

3)   You will have transitioned a “connection” into real time as in off your computer screen. Oh, and here’s something for you to crunch some quick numbers on . . .

I’ve been talking with 5 people from my social network, each week, since 2009. It helped me to launch me business in 2011 with several very large clients . . . instantly!

It is often said (and said to the point of “here we go again”) that people do business with people they know, like and trust

so riddle me this . . .
