I can safely write about this now because it happened like 15 years ago and I no longer fear a retaliatory strike from my wife.
I was starting a new job and was talking with my wife about it when she said something that really insulted me.
She said something along the lines of “Don’t hold back Paul, sometimes you hold back.”
I really don’t remember what was said next because I was too busy taking it personally which was sort of the point.
Probably because it was true!
I was carrying a lot of extra baggage around in those days like . . .
“The last time I gave it all I had, I lost my business, my cars and wound up $60,000 in debt”
“The people I’ve worked for don’t appreciate good employees so why bother?”
And those feelings were simply my ego protecting me from the more painful realization that . . .
I was scared!
Being scared can be a good thing if it slows you down enough to respect the situation.
If it keeps you from getting sloppy and doing sh*t work but . . .
When it imprisons you and keeps you from being the best version of you . . .
It limits your options!
I don’t know you but . . .
You probably have a song waiting to be sung.
An idea that needs to be shared.
A risk that needs to be taken and . . .
I’m here to tell you that you’ll feel much better . . .
Once you open up and stop holding back.
I would venture to say that those around you and those you serve . . .
Will also benefit!
