I decided to do the unthinkable today and slow down to take an actual lunch break. You know, one that involved leaving the world headquarters of Castain Training Systems 🙂
I get to a 4 way stop and this lady starts honking at me furiously, speeds around me and gives me the finger!
In retrospect, I feel I deserved it for having the balls to stop at a stop sign but I think a few weeks of Driver’s Ed should get me back up to speed in no time.
Truth be told, I got a little annoyed for several reasons (and perhaps I’m over thinking this a tad but what the heck)
1) Road rage is no joke. Pull a stunt like that with the wrong person and you might find yourself getting dragged out of your car for some quality time with a psychopath. Note: This may shock you, but we have a never ending supply of these in New York!
2) I couldn’t help but think that while I’m a pretty tough guy emotionally, what if I was hanging on by a thread? What if I just received some horrible news about a loved one or just experienced a loss? Stuff like this could make you lose hope mighty fast. No?
3) And I’m going with this one . . . Maybe “Bitchzilla” was just having a bad day and decided to wear it on her sleeve (or her middle finger)
I made a decision that has taken me the bulk of my adult life to make . . .
I wasn’t going to let the she bitch in the other car steal my joy!
A few minutes later, I arrived at the local sandwich shop and had the nicest chat with the lady behind the counter who made a very different decision . . .
She decided to wear her joy on her sleeve
I know what you’re thinking . . .
“But Paul isn’t it easy to be happy when you’re making north of 9 bucks an hour off the books?”
I know but some people just make different decisions and they end up living a wealthier, more abundant life.
You can too!
Peace!

Nicely said. Clearly you’ve chosen a much better mindset to be in as your week begins to wind down.
Paul, I tell my children that they are in charge of their attitude and no one else. Why relinquish that much power to some jerk? Good for you for not letting her bad attitude color your world. I think it was Ogilvy who said “attitude is money” and I believe that is true on so many levels. Peace!
Now that’s an awesome lesson to pass on to your children Jon! Well done!
Thanks!
Never let anyone dull your sparkle!
Absolutely Diana! Well said!
Thank you Beth!
