I’m hoping the title of this post got your attention and to be totally honest, I’m counting on it.
I’m counting on it to illustrate a really sad point.
Any time I put up a post on cold calling you guys pounce on it like a lion taking down a gazelle!
God forbid I put something up about referrals (like I did earlier today) and you all break eye contact and leave without opening the blog post.
It’s sad because it tells me that you’d rather call a stranger than ask someone (who’s already bought from you) if they know of anyone else who could benefit from your product/service.
Excuse me for what I’m about to say.
Put your ear muffs on kids but . . .
How F’n silly is that?
So you’d rather learn about calling strangers than about leveraging existing relationships?
You’d rather work harder (and on noisier platforms) than pick low handing fruit?
For some sad reason, the bulk of the sales population wants to cling to approaches that aren’t working as well as they once did.
They are closing their mind to other forms of outreach and other ways of bringing home the bacon.
They’d rather keep reading about cold calls than entertain other ways that at the very least, could complement their cold calls and, quite possibly prove to be a better approach.
To kick ass in today’s business landscape you need EVERY weapon possible!
Sometimes that means we need to step away from our beloved cold call and open ourselves up to additional approaches.
Oh, and you never have to worry about your Uncle Paul getting his wittle feelings hurt because his blog didn’t get read but . . .
