There was a time in my life that I had given up in every sense of the phrase.
I had lost everything I owned, my business, my money, both my cars and quite frankly I became something I never wanted to be;
A punching bag because I allowed life to continue to kick me while I was down.
I didn’t like it, and that role didn’t suit me, but one day, something changed.
I came home and my pregnant wife was crying because a bill collector physically threatened her.
That wasn’t a typo!
The dipsh*t told her that armed men would kick down our door if we didn’t pay up. Yep, a scene from The Sopranos with my credit card company!
And this is after she asked for a payment plan.
That was it!
I asked for the number and went to the other room where the phone was.
I called the collections idiot and made a promise (actually 3 promises)
Promise #1: If anyone is stupid enough to visit my home, kick in my door, and draw a weapon while entering for the lousy $800 I owed, they would leave in a body bag.
Promise #2: If he ever threatened my wife again, I’d personally visit him and teach him some manners.
Promise #3: That my wife’s offer to work out a payment plan was a “final offer” in that if they wanted to play f*ck you, they’d get nothing.
We worked it out and yes, I’m making myself out to be the hero/tough guy.
Truth be told, I might have sh*t my pants a little and I know I wanted to throw up because of the confrontation, but here’s the point;
Things changed for me the day I found my balls!
I began to realize that I no longer had to submit and tap out because life wanted a fight and;
I no longer felt like a coward!
Quite the opposite;
I kind of felt like that lunatic in the movies who breaks a bottle and waves it at the group trying to kick his ass while yelling “Who wants some” and;
NO, I didn’t win every battle, but;
I showed up and fought each one!
But enough about me;
